I’ve finished with the Ibuypower prebuilt setup that’s been around for nearly two years now. It still gives me headaches when trying to run Steam games nonstop. The rig uses a GeForce 4070 GPU with all the standard components available at the time on an Intel system.

I’d like some advice and suggestions for swapping parts, but I won’t spend more than $1000 on my GPU. That’s my limit. Lol
I’ve looked around here and created a new rig list this time because I want to build it myself. Amazon would charge me $3500 plus tax for this setup:

Case: Corsair iCUE 4000x – $144
Supply: be quiet dark power 1000W – $258 (the 850W is just $20 less)
MB: Asus tuf gaming x870-plus – $265
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D – $479
Cooler: Thermalright Grand Vision 360 AIO – $128
RAM: Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 64GB – $309
GPU: pny GeForce RTX 5080 – $999
Storage: Samsung 990 Pro SSD4Tb NVMe – $301
Mon: Sceptre Curved 34-inch – $237
OS: Windows 11 Home
Arctic MX6 paste – $8

I already have a new sound system and extra SSD space. What do you think? Will this fix my gameplay issues?

You didn't mention the resolution to the monitor, nor it's refresh rate except for the panel size. I went with 1440p monitors as you can max out all in-game details however you'd be looking at a 4K ideally to pair with the RTX 5080.

Besides the important p3 plus, Aeacus mentions it's a bad drive selection in this discussion. Some devices with a phone controller have been reported to have firmware problems, though I haven't yet checked if this is common or how often. The issue wasn't due to a Windows update but rather early firmware versions. The crucial p5 plus seems to avoid these problems, possibly by skipping Hynix in the chart.

It seems you'd like a detailed list of your current system specifications. You might consider upgrading the GPU and possibly the power supply unit as well.

I'd support Lutfij's suggestion to purchase a smaller SSD for the operating system and applications, followed by adding the 4TB drive once the OS is installed.

If your system encounters difficulties, it may be due to CPU wear. For improved performance, upgrading to a new GPU would be beneficial.

Obviously - you can just swap GPU.
What exact problems are you experiencing with your current system.
Didn't quite understand, what you meant by this:

First I must give kudos to IBuyPower's tech support. I gave them a call and the tech was about as awesome and knowledgable as they come and he did bring up the possibility of the CPU issue and that Intel was aware of it and made warranty return for 5 years on it. He had me download and run OCCT and it showed no errors so it wasn't that. First thing first though, I went on MSI's website and updated my bios which never had been.
I have an issue in that I for the life of me have been unable to get Windows 11, version 23H2 installed through windows update. Tried everything in the book and I am now going to nuke and repave the C: drive. I think my OS is corrupt as the current administration probably from all the Pr0n.
Steam games either won;'t load or when they do they crash shortly is a big issue too. So making a windows 11 thumb drive right now to do that. Will report back soon and then quit salivating about a new 5080 and just buy the dammed thing before the price goes back up. lol. 35% better performance AI tells me I will get versus the 4070.
