Question Microstutters and applications crashing
Hi guys,
At first my PC wasn’t performing well, games would stutter and the GPU would disconnect. The GPU issue was resolved with a new cable. Now I’m facing another issue: random apps are crashing and restarting—Discord, Opera GX, etc.—and FPS drops in several games like FC24 and Rocket League. I have no idea what’s causing it, anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
My setup:
Motherboard: MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 32 GB 6400 MHz
CPU: Intel Core i9-14900K
SSD1: Samsung SSD 970 EVO plus 500 GB (for Windows only)
SSD2: Samsung 990 PRO 4TB SSD (for the rest)
Power supply: Corsair RM1000e
CPU cooler: NZXT Kraken Elite 360
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4080 Super 16G Ventus 3X OC
BIOS Version: 7E06vAF
Case: NZXT H9 Flow
If I hadn’t worked so hard this summer to build and buy this PC, I wouldn’t have kept it. Thanks in advance for any help!
Random applications are experiencing crashes and restarting: discord, opera gx, ...
System reboots or the mentioned applications stop working.

There is an additional BIOS update available.
A new cable was all I needed.
Are you referring to a harness for the PSU/GPU or a riser cable for a vertical GPU mount?
You may want to uninstall all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then install the latest driver from Nvidia's support site using an elevated command—Right click installer > Run as Administrator. If the new driver causes problems, try version 566.36.

Have you checked with Samsung's Magician app for firmware updates? What operating system are you using?
The system may restart or the mentioned applications could be affected.
Applications to consider: pending BIOS update, PSU/GPU harness, vertical GPU mount cable, or a new GPU power cable.
