I experienced this problem with Google Chrome too, after accidentally downloading something wrong, but I’m unsure how to fix it in Microsoft Edge. When using Edge and searching, I notice various addresses pop up first before Yahoo results appear.

I only had one extension: google docs and removing it didn't solve the issue.

I use google chrome and I believe I never adjusted microsoft edge's settings. I assumed it was meant to connect to bing, but it directs to yahoo when entering an address. This behavior occurred in both chrome and microsoft edge even after setting it to google for searches. I performed a malware scan with malwarebytes yesterday, which identified two threats that were quarantined and deleted. I ran another scan using a different software and found no threats, but the issue persisted in chrome. I resolved it by removing extensions and a couple of other items in settings, though I can't locate them in edge. I haven't conducted a scan today.

EDIT: In the settings it states
"Search engine used in the address bar.
Bing (Recommended, default)"
but it actually goes to yahoo.

I'm currently running a malware scan and awaiting results.

I suspect what I need to remove might be the solution; I'll check if eliminating these items will resolve the problem as it did in chrome.

It definitely changed your settings through all those redirects. Taking them out would be a good first step.

Malwarebytes reported no threats found. I removed everything it permitted me to delete, and now when I search, Bing appears first without any other sites showing up before it reaches Bing. I think the issue is resolved. Thanks.

My pleasure. There might have been a change to those settings (whatever you downloaded). You can also reset Edge entirely if this happens again.
