Question: Massive FPS Drop Fx 8120 and Rx 580 8gb Sapphire nitro plus
Good evening
I’m experiencing a huge FPS drop on my Fx 8120 at 4Ghz with Rx 580 8gb Sapphire nitro plus, paired with an 8Gb RAM, PSU 600 +80, and the game Batman Arkham City doesn’t exceed 37 FPS with noticeable lag.
GTA V is running at 12 FPS.
I’ve tried everything but I’m not sure what’s causing the problem.
Thanks in advance.
Identify the brand and model of this 600w power supply. Monitor CPU and GPU temperatures and usage while playing. Check RAM and SSD activity during the game.
I attempted all possible settings including 720p resolution, but the system remains slow and unresponsive. The PSU Coolermaster Elite V4 600 v230 is paired with an Asrock 970 Extreme4 motherboard, and I used G.skill 8Gb DDR3 RAM. The GPU temperature stays between 35 and 50, while the CPU runs at 65 to 71 degrees. There is only an HDD, not an SSD. I also tried enabling and disabling the DVR Gaming mode in the registry, which helped temporarily, but after restarting the PC it returns to lagging.
Your 970 motherboard VRMs might be overheating and not delivering a steady VCore to your FX 8120, particularly when overclocked. You can sense the heat from the VRMs; if they're too hot to touch, consider attaching a small fan to help cool them down. Alternatively, the issue could stem from the CPU overheating and experiencing thermal throttling, as Bulldozer CPUs tend to overheat at 61 degrees C (81 degrees C without adjustment).
