Question Macrium Reflect: transferring files
Question Macrium Reflect: transferring files
Going through the image, I'm using a partition with Macrium Reflect ver 7 free. I need to recover around 55 GB from a 230 GB partition, leaving 400 GB of unallocated space on an SSD. This isn't the operating system drive; I've already restored other data to a fresh partition on the SSD. Will this second restore erase the existing data? Should it default to a 230 GB size?
Will changing the names of these partitions in MR affect the listing order?
Lastly, if the new partition becomes too large and resizing isn't possible in MR, should I be able to use W10's Disk Management to adjust its size?
Thanks for your interest,
Mac
I'm copying the partition from HDD to SSD.
On a data SSD. All my data is on a second SSD.
Thanks.
Sorry for the delay. I was at work. You'll see that the second SSD isn't connected in this photo. Disk 2 contains my SSD with OS, while Disks 0 and 1 are HDDs. I'm looking to move the H: partition data to another SSD that has the 400 unallocated space. I noticed the 'copy partition' option but am unsure if restoring from an image will use only the unallocated area or the entire disc. Thanks again.
I just checked the 400-page Macrium manual. I didn't find any mention of restoring to unallocated space. It might be possible... I haven't tried it before. I'd consider formatting the 400 GB unallocated area and then restoring H to that space. Your source H partition is part of a logical drive, which could be an issue, but the manual didn't indicate anything about that.
There is a free Minitool Partition wizard alternative available. Macrium works well for cloning and imaging, but the partition copy tool is more suitable for partitioning.
I would need to check the Macrium window to determine feasibility, but as previously mentioned, Minitool Partition Wizard could be more suitable.
