Question Low budget 12,13 gen mb
Question Low budget 12,13 gen mb
My 11600k requires an increased power limit to avoid throttling. Unless it's cold (fresh air from my balcony), it sometimes gets warm and power usage isn't low.
I aim for a 12 or 13 gen CPU with more memory and possibly DDR5, which makes it slightly more expensive compared to DDR4. Then, when people are looking for a 14 gen processor in September or before Christmas (Black Friday), they might sell an i5, i7, or i9 to get a 14 gen CPU. Some could even sell it at a good price so it doesn’t sit idle for too long before upgrading to an Intel 14 gen.
I’m considering an ASUS PRIME B660M-A D4 motherboard.
If opting for a low-cost DDR5 module, what options exist and how much memory would be suitable? 32GB with low CL?
The comparison between DDR4 and DDR5 performance is similar. Currently, DDR4 memory and parts are relatively more affordable. DDR5 speeds seem strong, but they come with increased latencies that reduce some of the speed benefits. It's found that Intel processors, unlike Ryzen, don't rely heavily on fast RAM for performance. Modern chips are built to handle higher temperatures. You might check this video about heat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNFgswzTvyc
Which nation do you reside in, and what financial range are you considering for a motherboard along with the processor you plan to buy?
When targeting DDR5, I'm unsure what I can obtain for the price I have.
Denmark, 100-120 is just for the mb

The price is a bit high (166 euros), but I could still manage to save a bit by choosing a DDR4 4 MB and faster DDR4 RAM instead of the GB Mb + DDR5 RAM.
Focus on B series micro ATX motherboards that fit your budget. Consider options with varying DDR4 and DDR5 support, different B660M, B760M, and B760M models. Think about the specific features you require, such as M.2 port count, fan connectors, USB port types and quantities, and monitor connectors.
