Hello,
I recently purchased a Lenovo yoga 530 with 14 units (AMD based) and was surprised to discover that it lacks a backlit keyboard. After opening the device, I noticed the backlit cable was present but unconnected, and I realized there isn’t a backlit connector socket on the motherboard—something I saw in comparison photos online.

I’m asking: Can I purchase the FPC connector and install it onto the motherboard? If yes, what specifications should I look for? I understand it’s a 4-pin FPC connector, but I’m unsure whether it should be 0.5mm or 1mm thick, and I found both options online.

Additionally, I want to know if there are any issues with soldering a connector directly onto the motherboard.
Attached you have:
- Pictures of my motherboard without the connector
- Photos showing the cable and a similar model with the connector installed
- The same model used in online sales.

If the laptop is still within the warranty period, I would request you to return it and provide the missing connector along with any documentation. The fact that the model you have comes with a backlit keyboard (one that functions properly) is sufficient reason to replace the laptop.

Thanks for the suggestion, but this isn't feasible. I bought the keyboard from eBay; it was originally from France, and I don’t have any warranty coverage in my country at the moment (no international warranty).
sidenote
:
this laptop seems to be available in France without a backlit keyboard, which might explain why.
