Question Izotope RX experiencing numerous crashes and errors.
Question Izotope RX experiencing numerous crashes and errors.
I'm looking into issues with the Izotope RX software. It mentioned VMWare during installation and showed errors when saving files or loading parts. One project works but becomes corrupted or fails to export. It might be due to a large file, so I split it into sections which causes various problems. Sometimes the export fails completely, especially when using Export Selection. Tech support suggests running as an admin and reinstalling in Safe Mode. The file is exported but gets renamed to something like "RX Temp save file ....." It occasionally works fine, though it slows down a lot while editing. Exporting the file makes it faster again. I'm unsure if it can handle large files without crashing. Running on a more powerful machine might help, but I don't know what VMWare setup it's using. There are specific error codes, mostly crashes, which resolve with shorter tracks. Exporting the file is just annoying given the software's price. If anyone has thoughts on VMWare or whether upgrading the system would assist, I should probably move on from this thread—already trying to fix my OS and printer issues.
great response
exporting it has two main issues. One project file would crash even before the menu appeared.
more commonly, it fails when trying to export selections.
I ran the software as an administrator, and most programs handled this drive partition without trouble.
I also tried setting file ownership permissions, but the export still worked fine.
now I’m unsure exactly what’s wrong—just need to manually rename files.
The 12-minute file no longer exports. The software is current; please reach out to tech support. I've attempted various solutions already.
Izotope support doesn't recognize this debugger. Clearing the appdata folder and reinstalling the software didn't resolve the issue; some settings remain intact. However, the file itself appears to be malfunctioning—other files function correctly. I've tried running Izotope RX on a new OS installation, but the project file still opens without exporting. If I recall accurately, there have been several software problems, though usually smaller files or ignoring export errors help. I can open the file now, but it won't work at this stage. I was able to export it before, but now Selection Export and full export are not possible. The stereo mix isn't working either—can't record the track through Audacity for manual export.
maybe just getting a Mac would be better?
i'm not sure if even getting top specs on a desktop PC would solve all the issues
if it did work, what specifications would ensure stability...a solid motherboard, sufficient storage, and reliable software
since this machine has been causing problems, i might even need to use the warranty
but it could be the software that's the real problem
Sorry for starting a new thread, but the answer could be achieved with a reliable build and stable OS and software. Izotope tools seem to have issues, or perhaps my computer needs warranty too (thanks Admin for merging). I could use a Mac or a desktop with extra storage or a dock, but I’m unsure what ports support 20Gbps or higher speeds since most are rated lower. It’s possible some NVME enclosures and SSDs offer higher capacities, though around 2TB max. I’m wondering about the best way to get high-speed drives without using standard 3.5" docks with Thunderbolt/USB4, maybe a case that supports hot-swapping or a desktop with expandable drives. That wouldn’t be a Mac either. I’m not sure what to choose since I’m also thinking about Macrium Reflect and SyncBack for Windows, and Beyond Compare might help. Some of these options require some learning. Often people just add more storage instead of optimizing it—my goal is to avoid all these errors and maybe try a simpler solution like using DOS.
Izotope support says to try this next
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/v...-t...ew=vs-2022
and it's already disabled
so they say it's a Microsoft problem, not a problem with Izotope

your reply got deleted somehow
i might just edit using WAV file and try not to overload or crash the software
already trying to use smaller tracks, since it was slowing down to a snail crawl
why all the errors...Selection Export....and Export
i get the sense even getting a high powered system might not fix this VMWare and Visual Basic and the support team doesn't seem to have answer for some other problems with the software
Zero Crossings doesn't seem to work
why blame Microsoft for Visual Basic error?
maybe use a Mac, but is this software actually stable for any track over 20 minutes or after doing more edits?
also nobody mentioned just copy the Project contents to a new Project and then it exports with no delay
usually it lags quite a while and freezes
not sure if CPU or RAM would improve this...
if anyone could name what specs to get....Izotope won't even answer that
their specs requirement page barely says anything
