I notice the power cable might be deteriorating since I experience frequent USB disconnections. The HP-branded replacement is expensive and similar to the dock price. Should I try a standard male-to-male USB-C cord instead, or is there a risk it won't function properly? Anyone has suggestions?

I seem to seeing a couple of SKU with the G2 ending for HP's Thunderbolt 23 docks, can you please pass on a link to the one you're working with? Also, might want to pass on the make and model for your laptop as well. Check and see if you've got any BIOS updates pending, OS updates pending and if reinstalling chipset drivers helps alleviate the issue.
