Question High Hardware Reserved Memory?
Question High Hardware Reserved Memory?
Hello Everyone
Windows 11 Pro Clean Install
High Hardware Reserved memory?
Onboard Video
Integrated Graphics is turned off in UEFI Bios
Page file seems a bit large, possibly due to my Samsung 990 Evo Plus Boot Drive using a Host Memory Buffer drive type
I plan to buy another Samsung 990 Pro 2TB soon, which will give me two drives with Dram Cache. The Samsung 990 Pro 1TB will then be the boot drive and the 2TB will become Game NVMe. I know I tend to spend more on Samsung drives, but having one SSD managed software feels better

Any advice or tips would be appreciated. I’m not very familiar with memory or hardware issues.
Windows 11 Pro Clean Install
Where did you obtain the installer for the operating system? Did you install it without an internet connection?
I see you have details about your sig space. Please add the specifications to your build description in the thread, as these can change over time and may affect the solutions available to you now.

List the following specs for your build:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
Include the age of the PSU along with its make and model.
BIOS version for your motherboard at this time.
It might be useful to check if disabling startup entries helps reduce RAM usage.
Your memory display indicates only 400MB of space reserved on hardware. This is considered very limited. Storing 18GB in use represents a significant amount of data.
System specifications include MSI Pro B650 VC Wifi Rev 1.0-Bios Revision 7D78v1J, a Ryzen 7 7700X processor, an air cooler, 32GB DDR5 RAM, two 1TB NVMe SSDs (one Samsung 990 Evo Plus, one Samsung 990 Pro), an Radeon 7800XT OC with 16GB VRAM, a 750W power supply unit, Windows 11 Pro version 26100.4351, and an Lian Li Lancool 216 ARGB case. The monitor is an Asus VG249Q1R 1080P. Additional software installed are Roboform Password Manager, SignalRGB, Powerchute Personal Edition for backup, Outlook Classic, Spotify, EA App, and Firestorm Viewer for SecondLife.
Will verify those details in the UEFI bios early tomorrow or perhaps even before I go to bed tonight.
This Samsung 990 Evo Plus won’t be wasted once I move to the Internal 2 990 Pros; I’ll use this model in another machine later or with an external enclosure and active cooling.
I planned to change drives during a clean install, but I can’t locate my Magnetic M.2 screwdriver after cleaning the room for a previous Townhome inspection, so I decided to keep the current setup a bit longer.
Am open to switching to the SecondLife Official Viewer if necessary.
Firestorm SecondLife viewer is a third-party tool, though it’s popular.
I forgot I’m also running Malwarebytes Premium on all three household computers (that’s not critical).
The reserved 400MB hardware is not a cause for concern. Proceed.
Your pagefile size is quite high. Adjust it to custom settings—start at 1GB, cap at 32GB. Ideally, avoid placing it on the OS drive.
The committed memory value shown in Task Manager is troubling. It may indicate a software issue with a memory leak. Investigate by checking Task Manager/Processes and sorting by Memory Usage.
I’ll handle the Pagefile right away here. I haven’t managed to obtain the Samsung 990 Pro 2TB yet, but I’ll try as soon as possible.
Pagefile will be addressed promptly.
The OS was obtained from Microsoft.com; the ISO was downloaded and then a USB drive was set up using Rufus, ensuring a local account was created first. After that, an Ethernet cable was connected to perform Windows updates, followed by configuring the MS account on my preferred standard account. I also created a separate PC admin account for administrative tasks.
I intended to perform another clean installation whenever I received the second Samsung 990 Pro 2TB, to eliminate any potential issues from the current Boot M.2 and possibly relocate the drive to an external enclosure or use it in a future gaming laptop as a secondary drive.
The Samsung 990 Pro 1TB is expected to replace the current boot drive, while the 2TB version will serve as the new Game M.2.
The Samsung 990 Evo Plus will be used for additional storage inside an M.2 enclosure or possibly integrated into a future replacement Windows 11 gaming laptop.
(This remains the current plan—hoping everything is ready before the Windows 11 25H2 release.)
Memory leak is uncertain; I’ll investigate in Task Manager and processes next.
Hey there!
That reserved hardware memory level looks quite high, particularly with your onboard video integrated graphics turned off in UEFI BIOS. It might also be connected to the Host Memory Buffer feature on your Samsung 990 Evo Plus. The page file size could be larger than usual, depending on your system and what you’re running. To dig deeper, try searching for terms like “Windows 11 high hardware reserved memory fix” or “adjust page file size Windows 11.” A good first step would be to search online. Switching to a Samsung 990 Pro configuration—using one drive for boot and another for games—seems like a solid approach. Having a unified SSD management tool really helps streamline things!
After replacing the M.2 drives, updating UEFI bios for a security patch, and performing a fresh Windows 11 installation, the Integrated Graphics appears in Task Manager with 918MB reserved. I can disable it again during the next driver update or beforehand, whichever is preferable.
