Question HDD not found unless the correct keyboard is connected?
Hello, I own a Windows 95 machine in mint condition. The problem is that the PC doesn’t recognize a boot device unless a particular keyboard is connected. This original keyboard came with the computer and has a purple PS/2 port. I’m attempting to switch it to USB for improved performance, but the old keyboard only works when plugged in. I also bought another keyboard with a PS/2 port, yet it still fails to recognize the boot device unless I use the original one. Do you have any suggestions?
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! What is the make and model of the retro system you're working with? Regarding the boot device, it might be helpful to also mention its make and model if you've made any modifications. For your USB-driven keyboard, you're likely to encounter challenges because platforms from that time didn't support USB peripherals (like microphones and keyboards) unless they were specifically certified for Windows 95. You may also want to add links to the peripherals you're using.
