Question: Gsync, Vsync, 120hz, 60hz - Issues?
Question: Gsync, Vsync, 120hz, 60hz - Issues?
Hello, I was trying to figure out the optimal setup for my OLED TV with a 120Hz compatible Gsync. If I keep the 60Hz, 60fps, Gsync on and Vsync on, games run smoothly, but issues arise when I enable Gsync and use full screen (where games drop to 30fps). When I switch to 120Hz, 60fps, Gsync on and Vsync off, the games run smoothly without problems. In my opinion, the best approach is to set the cap to FPS since the 60 frames are fine. It doesn’t seem like a big difference between using more frames and letting the GPU warm up. What do you think?

What model of your display are you using? What device are you connecting it to? Which games are putting a strain on the GPU and screen?
Just a note, if you're achieving 120 frames per second in your game, then setting the panel to 120Hz is appropriate. It doesn't make sense to adjust to 120Hz when your system can only handle up to 60FPS.
LG C2 owner here: The recent advice I received appears effective:
Gsync: Enabled
VSync: Enabled through driver, disabled in game (this actually makes a noticeable difference compared to the reverse)
NVIDIA Reflex: On/Boost (it will automatically cap FPS a few frames below your refresh rate)
I also don't see any need to lower the display refresh below 120Hz.
I got it. To run smoothly at 60 frames per second on a 120Hz display without tearing and with smooth performance, you should enable the appropriate settings.
