Question games are accessible solely through a direct connection.
Our university’s local network employs a firewall and restricted ports, which limits our ability to play multiplayer games over the local area network. We can still connect directly through IP addresses (accessed from game menus or console commands), but numerous games lack these options, and consequently, we cannot locate or join existing local game servers. We would like to understand:
Why does the LAN operate in this manner?
Is there a solution to connect to local game servers?
Are there methods to bypass the lack of an IP connection option in games and connect using IP addresses instead?
It seems likely that the scope of your target region is too expansive to be effectively established using only a small number of routers.
