Question FPS Drop After CPU Overclock
Question FPS Drop After CPU Overclock
I recently increased my Ryzen 5 5600 CPU’s speed to 4.7 and then 4.8 GHz. I performed Prime95 testing and found no overheating or problems—everything was running smoothly. Still, Prime95 or Cinebench aren’t as crucial to me as the Cyberpunk FPS benchmark. With my 3080 GPU, I usually achieved around 60 FPS, but after the overclock it fell to 30 FPS and didn’t improve further. I reset the BIOS and reverted all changes, yet the performance stayed low. Cyberpunk remained at 30 FPS. I also checked Uncharted 4 and noticed a slight slowdown of 5-10 FPS, though less obvious. Alan Wake 2 showed only a 10 FPS drop compared to before, even with DLSS enabled. Could this indicate CPU damage? I’ve undone most adjustments, including BIOS and overclock settings, but the FPS is still insufficient. What might be causing this issue?
Could I have harmed my CPU? What might be behind this issue? I’ve reset nearly everything, including BIOS and overclock settings, but the FPS remains low. Could there be another explanation? When sharing a troubleshooting thread, it’s important to provide complete system details. Please list your specifications clearly, such as:

Monitor:
Include the age of the PSU along with its make and model. Also, mention the current BIOS version for your motherboard. From what you’re saying, it seems your GPU drivers might be corrupted. Try using DDU to remove all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then reinstall manually with the latest driver from Nvidia’s support site, running the installer as an administrator via Right-click > Run as Administrator.
