Hello everyone! 👋
This is my first time diving into PC construction, and I’m still getting used to it. I’ve been using a Dell G3 laptop for about four years (back in college), and now I’m ready to switch to a dedicated gaming machine.

My needs:
- Gaming (AAA games + some competitive titles)
- Streaming or watching videos in bulk
- Office work and everyday tasks
- Not much heavy video editing or 3D work

I visited a nearby PC store with a budget of roughly
$1,800 USD / €1,650
(just for the tower, no extra gear) and they recommended this setup:
CPU: Intel Core i9-14000K
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5070
Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming Z790 WiFi
RAM: 32 GB DDR5 6000 MHz (2×16 GB)
SSD: WD Black 1 TB NVMe
Power Supply: 850 W 80+ Gold
Cooler: 360 mm AIO liquid cooler
Case: ATX Mid Tower

They also suggested these upgrades:
- Intel Core i9-14000KS (+$60)
- RTX 5070 Ti (+$345 over RTX 5070)

Since I don’t plan to upgrade my PC for a long time, I’m asking:
Should I stretch the budget a bit for the i9-14000KS or RTX 5070 Ti?
Or is this current configuration already suitable for what I need?
Could you recommend any brands or models for PSU, cooler, case, or RAM?

I’m really looking forward to building my first PC and would appreciate your advice. Thanks a lot!

The 14900K is a costly power consumer. Consider a board that accommodates PCIe 5.0 to match the capabilities of the latest AMD and Nvidia graphics cards. A 750W ATX 3.0/3.1 PSU works well with the RTX 5070. I’m planning to use these parts as a reference.

The additional expense will cause some discomfort in the short term.
However, skipping the superior features means the second estimate will remain valid for a longer period.
Choose the better options if you can afford them.
