You can scan multiple photos at once without saving them as separate files. The scanner will handle them as individual files automatically.

What scanning program are you employing?
This printer?
https://files.support.epson.com/docid/cp...index.html
Examine the Main Settings and Advanced Settings.
= = = =
A single scan typically produces one image file.
Yet I recall seeing a tool that identifies multiple photos during scanning, generating a distinct file for each.
This might have needed an intermediate adjustment from the user to "select" each photo individually, or the software could have made an automated decision and the user had to fix it.
Similar options include:
https://autosplitter.com/#:~:text=A...nging software can, save them to separate files

Perform a web search for "How to scan multiple photos into separate files" and explore additional resources.

I'm using the program that came with the printer, Epson scan 2.
Yes, that is the printer, Epson XP-640.
I've checked both main and advanced settings, tried document and photo modes, but didn't find an option to split images into separate scans.
I'll look for software that can do this.

I tested two different tools, autosplitter and scan speeder. With autosplitter, each picture showed two circles after scanning. I believe this is due to it being a trial version. If the watermark isn’t part of the trial, I couldn’t find a way to remove those circles. There was also a warning about registering to stop the watermarks. If purchasing would eliminate both the text and circles, it would save time compared to handling them separately. The pricing seems reasonable—$30 for two years or $20 for thirty days.

The second option was scan speeder, also a trial but without a watermark and limited to ten scans. It significantly sped up the process, being faster than autosplitter. However, it couldn’t handle all the pictures I needed due to the 10-scan limit, though it was helpful. Its price is slightly higher, around $30 and $40 for what appears to be a one-year plan.

I completed the project successfully. If I need to repeat this task, I’m leaning toward scan speeder mainly because of its speed. It would be great to find a one-time purchase option that lasts a lifetime. Although I mentioned trying not to spend much, it would save a lot of time if I have a large number of scans and is cheaper than using a service like Walgreens. Who knows, maybe next time they’ll offer more choices. Both programs were fairly easy to use.
