Some people might have heard about the IKEA Markus Static displays, but what’s going on with me? It seems like the Markus is damaging my PC. If I move in an unusual way that creates an electrostatic discharge, my PC might shut down—probably starting with the GPU, since I can still hear some audio. At first, after reading online, I thought it could be a grounding issue. I checked my outlets and the PC itself, but everything was properly grounded. Now I’m unsure what to do next.

For reference, my PC case is a LOQE Ghost S1.

If anyone has suggestions, I’d really appreciate it.

The article you mention clearly states: "The answer is to ground the chair however is most practical to your workspace. That might mean connecting a part of the chair to an earth/ground source (plug, metal radiator, TV antenna, etc), whatever is most convenient."

I told them the fabric might be the issue and suggested connecting it up wouldn't really help much. But I'm going to try it anyway, it's not a bad idea.
