After unplugging and not using the controller, everything seems to be working well so far. I suspect it might be a controller issue, but to confirm, I'll reactivate all the startup applications I had disabled and check if everything functions properly. The apps that will now launch on startup are: MSI Center (for RGB lights), Lightshot (best screenshot app), HWinfo64, MSI afterburner, Signal, Powertoys, Plex Media Server, Emby Media Server, Lingoes 64, Qbitorrent, Steam, Google Drive, and Reflect (for backups). Realtek Audio driver and Microsoft Security are also listed.

it's strange and I'm not sure what it's doing to stop me from sleeping, but I thought I'd try it out since it helped me. I hope that's the solution and all you need to do is turn it back on when you're ready to use it. That's what I've been doing instead of leaving it plugged in constantly.
that and I got a new one to replace the old one that was causing the issue.

Yeah, I believe the controller is the root cause. It's been two days without it, and so far this issue hasn't occurred, pointing to a controller problem. However, in my situation, whenever this happens, even after unplugging, the display and PC still fail to sleep, only restarting helps. Since the sleep feature doesn't work and disconnecting afterward doesn't resolve it, I think I'll just ignore it and manually turn off my monitor if I don't restart or shut down my PC.
