In Windows, you can view System Information and see the BIOS mode listed as "Legacy." Would this be sufficient proof? Additionally, it would be helpful to understand whether employing CSM has any downsides for extended periods.

Yes. This indicates the system is running in legacy mode, and you're starting from there.
The CSM cannot be turned off, causing the system to become unbootable.
As mentioned before, secure boot isn't supported due to the legacy boot setting.
Upgrading to Windows 11 is not possible at this time.
