Question: Dell OptiPlex GX280 upgrade
Question: Dell OptiPlex GX280 upgrade
I'm setting up my first PC and it's an old Dell OptiPlex GX280. I have some experience with building computers from videos, so I understand what I need—new PSU, thermal paste, possibly more RAM. Do anyone have recommendations for parts that fit without changing anything else? I'm looking for compatible options in EU, UK, or Ireland only. Thanks!
Infrequently does an Optiplex qualify as a suitable upgrade. Especially one that's over a decade old. The case, PSU, or motherboard probably uses exclusive Dell connectors, necessitating their replacement. Additionally, being ten years old means you still need fresh RAM, a CPU, or a new motherboard. And a ten-year-old PSU is also in need of replacement. Therefore, essentially a complete set of components would be required.
Plugging in the old PSU could cause an explosion if it's faulty.
It seems like you're referring to a time frame around 6 to 10 years prior. Could you clarify what you mean?
