Question Dell Optiplex 380 Specifications
Question Dell Optiplex 380 Specifications
Hi everyone. I hope everyone is having a great day. I have a question about a specific feature of this power supply, particularly regarding the Optiplex line. I'm having trouble finding information about its protection on the manufacturer's page. Could you help me? I'm feeling a bit frustrated. Thanks in advance.
why do you wanna know?
these psus from dell usually include standard safeguards such as oc, uv, etc., so they won’t cause a house fire.
😉
The Optiplex 380 was a budget office machine. The MT (Mini Tower) model included a 265W power supply. Upgrading to the Opti MT 305W is advised, or even the Precision T3400 375W PSU with a 6-pin GPU cable.
Dell employs several rail power supplies. Both the 305 and 375 models support 2-18A and 12V rails. Exceeding 215W on either rail will cause shutdown for safety. Therefore, these models can safely handle over 400W.
The 380 supports LGA775 CPUs up to the Q9650 model. It features 8GB DDR3 RAM. It requires X64 architecture (Crucial provided this) and operates at 1066 MHz.
The Zotac GTX1050 Mini fits directly into the BTX case. No GPU cable is needed. A 32-bit OS is recommended alongside 8GB RAM and a 4GB GPU.
Modifications are necessary: original builds had only 2 CPU cores and 4GB RAM. Adding a 4-core heatsink and shroud from another Opti model (like MT780) would be beneficial.
Tapemod E7500 reaching 3.73GHz offers the best single-thread performance. With a modified BIOS, an X5470 Xeon has functioned successfully; it doesn't work with other OPTI models. A 3.3GHz setting is optimal.
MSI OCX single-fan GTX1060 3GB can be fitted with an I/O bracket cut for the 375W PSU. The 64-bit OS is compatible with a 3GB GPU.
