We purchased a Dell Inspiron 23.8" All-in-One, Model i5420-7166WHT-PUS from Costco during Black Friday. The product details mention a 1TB 5400 HDD and a 256GB CL35 SSD. Should the SSD include the operating system? Is it normal to have an SSD instead of replacing the HDD, or is this setup typical and acceptable? If you know anything about Dell, please share. Our grandchildren preferred an all-in-one with a big screen and they have limited space. They also like a bigger keyboard and mouse.

For more info, see the specs here: https://www.costco.com/dell-inspiron-23.8"-all-in-one-touchscreen-desktop---13th-gen-intel-core-i7-1355u---1080p---windows-11.product.4000139316.html

The OS is likely to be on the 256GB SSD. It would probably be better to switch to a similar-sized SSD. Yes, I would.

Do you believe the Samsung model below would be suitable? Would it provide a noticeable performance improvement?

I would favor the 860 EVO over the 870.
Or, the Crucial MX500 is a good choice.
Either option should suffice.

There have been some reported problems with the 870. It seems to have been fixed soon.
