Question: Debug light flashes CPU then nothing please help
I'm working on repairing my computer. It stopped working a few weeks ago and I've faced many obstacles.
Right now I have: MSI b760 gaming plus wifi MOBO, i5-13600k CPU, MSI liquid cooler, Gen3 m.2 SSD, Corsair 750w modular PSU, two 16gb Corsair PAR, PNY 1070 GPU.
As mentioned, the CPU debug light is flashing once and then nothing. Initially, when everything was connected, I saw a RAM debug light alternating with the CPU debug light, but it changed to just a quick flash of the CPU light. After removing the CPU, I found one bent pin and fixed it, but now I can't tell if the pins are aligned correctly.
I've tested running the CPU, cooler, and a single RAM stick, but the same issue occurs.
Using only the 24-pin Mobo connector gives the identical result—just a quick flash of the CPU debug light then nothing.
I've checked both inside and outside the case.
Is my Mobo damaged or is it more likely the CPU?
Edit: After unplugging all but one HDD from the CPU and SATA cables, I managed to boot into BIOS. Now I need a new M.2 SSD since the one I had with Windows isn't recognized in BIOS and gets extremely hot when the computer is running for just a minute. I also notice some burning plastic coming from the SSD.
Unfortunately without another machine to test parts with it's impossible to tell whether it's CPU or motherboard, but it's a pretty safe bet it's one of the two. I'd lean towards motherboard, but that's just because of your description of the error message changing and the bent pin.
Thank you, I just completed a replacement via Amazon. I'm worried the bent pin might have damaged my CPU. I'll have the new motherboard ready by Friday. I'll share an update once it's installed.
