recently there was a power outage and because of my own mistakes, I left the outlet connected with the cable. afterward, my computer would shut down and restart unexpectedly. it didn’t just show a black screen; windows actually displayed "shutting down..." as if the shutdown button had been pressed. someone could help me with this, that would be really appreciated.

i think there might be a few possibilities:
1. the power button or wires might not be connecting properly, or there could be a false alarm about a shutdown.
2. the motherboard could have a short circuit due to insufficient power, or something is sending a signal that it needs to shut down.
3. the power supply might not be providing steady power, which usually causes random shutdowns even under heavy load, though it sometimes works for longer periods.

my hd is an HP Elitedesk 800 G1 SFF with 4x2 (8) GB DDR3 RAM, a 256 SATA SSD, and an Intel Core i5-4570 processor. running Windows 10.

any of your observations seem plausible? i also had a failed hard drive that i didn’t remove, but after taking it out it still caused the problem. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a specific PSU model, but I can help you find the details if you provide more information about your device. Let me know the make and model, and I'll assist further.

It's an HP 702307-002 with a 240W power supply. It provides 12VDC output, is 92% efficient, and includes power factor correction. I'm not sure if it handled voltage spikes or if the motherboard was affected, since Windows clearly warns me when it shuts down.
