I'm struggling with my wife's computer lately. Over the past few months, whenever she plays any game, her system will suddenly crash without showing any error messages. The crashes happen unpredictably and vary between titles. She can play Guild Wars 2 for about an hour before it freezes to the desktop. In Dead Island 2 and Helldivers 2, she manages roughly 45 minutes of gameplay before needing a restart. Only Dark and Darker seems to let her play for longer stretches—typically around 5 minutes after loading into the game world. It appears she can handle sessions of any length except for that one game.

Her current setup includes:
- Motherboard: MSI PRO B650-P WIFI AM5 AMD
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D
- GPU: ASRock Phantom Gaming Radeon RX 7900 XTX
- RAM: G-Skill Trident Z5 RGB series, 32GB DDR5, 6000 MHz
- PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 GT, 80 Plus Gold, 1000W

I've reinstalled AMD drivers and Windows multiple times. I've also read about overheating and power problems with the 7900 XTX, so I upgraded her power supply from 850W to 1000W. She moved the machine into a new case for better cooling and added extra fans. I've experimented with different AMD Adrenalin settings—adjusting GPU clockspeed from 3000 to 2200, setting fan speeds high, and tweaking power tuning to +5%, +10%, +15%. I've also replaced the 7900 XTX with another card (VEGA 56), which is in her brother's computer. None of these changes have resolved the crashing issues.

I'm starting to suspect a CPU or motherboard problem, but I don't have spare parts to test. Please help!

The cheapest way to begin is to take off the side panel and let a box fan blow on the PC while she plays. If the PC remains stable, there’s still a heating problem without the fan. If it keeps crashing, we should investigate further.

I was working before making the case swap without any adjustments. I keep checking the temperatures during her play, which seems to be the usual factor. Once Human reaches 50c and crashes, Dead Island 2 will still function at 50c for over 45 minutes.

What's in her start up folder. Can you run memtest.
Is she using Chrome and Discord while gaming at the same time?
The power supply is more tricky to determine. I don't know where your unit falls in the "tier " but I have had similar quark where PC was just fine , game for a while and days no issue. Play Serious Sam 4 and bam PC reboots.
What I did is move that power supply to another PC and not a glitch in it's new home.
Different brand and model power supply and original PC just fine now.
Although I feel like your power supply should be fine finding and fixing issues is a bit of knowledge and black magic. I have learned logic sometime can keep a PC from being repaired, some times it's both logic with thinking outside the box.

Turn off EXPO to run at default speed, set voltage to 1.35, reset the video card to stock settings, access the startup menu and disable any MSI or RGB software you installed. Download OCCT and perform the power supply, memory, and video card tests. I'm confirming there are no temperature issues.

Started searching for the EXPO in BIOs and noticed XMP was disabled. Re-enabled it and the system stopped crashing. It's strange since I had never adjusted XMP settings, yet her machine ran smoothly for nearly a year before these issues appeared.

It might be an issue with the motherboard. It's still a good idea to have your PC checked anyway.
