I’m using Windows 11 with a Ryzen 9800X3d CPU that includes integrated graphics, an ASRock B850I Lightning WiFi board, an RTX 4080, and a Corsair SF750. The 4080 displays Code 43 on my system. It also functions properly on my friend’s PC, while my previous RTX 2070 works well here.

I even replaced the motherboard with an identical model to eliminate any hardware issues. The same outcome occurred. When attempting to boot in Safe Mode, I encountered difficulties detecting my keyboard and mouse, so I performed a driver wipe using standard Windows instead. After going offline, I ran DDU for both Nvidia and AMD display drivers, rebooted after each, and finally installed the newest Nvidia driver. I also tried an older driver version. The Code 43 persisted.

I reset the graphics card, confirmed the 12VHPWR was fully engaged, experimented with various HDMI and DP cables and another monitor, but nothing changed.

Could this be a Windows driver issue on AM5? Are there other steps I should take before considering a different GPU brand or model?

Check the latest BIOS update for your motherboard (version 3.50).

Have you updated to the latest version yet? As @logainofhades recommended, did you restart the BIOS? How recently did you carry out a complete, clean Windows installation? When you set up the AMD chipset drivers, did you opt for the newest version from AMD directly?
https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads.../b850.html
Additionally, make sure both the 8-pin and 24-pin power connectors are securely connected at each end. The motherboard sockets and PSU.

The 4080 functions properly on my friend’s system but often fails to display the BIOS screen on my machine. I see the white VGA indicator light. During boot, Windows typically only shows AMD integrated graphics or Microsoft Basic. When I run DDU and exclude AMD and NVIDIA, then install NVIDIA, the 4080 works again, though it disappears after a restart. Sometimes the HDMI output produces crackling or static sounds, which is unusual.

Things I attempted:
- Disabled CSM, tried PEG/PCIe first, turned off iGPU multi-monitor
- Enabled above 4G and ReBAR, turned on PCIe Gen4, disabled ASPM
- Enabled AMD PBS graphics features for dGPU, disabled D3Cold
- Swapped HDMI and DP cables and ports
- Flipped the GPU’s dual BIOS switch
- Reseated card and power, cleared CMOS
- Tested two different PSUs and two B850 boards

GPU-Z sometimes shows no VBIOS version, which suggests the issue might be with the BIOS itself on the 4080. I’m considering whether it could be a VBIOS problem, a quirk in the B850 chipset, or possibly related to a faulty CPU or PCIe lane with the 9800X3D. Any suggestions on resolving this permanently? Also, how can I effectively prevent the AMD iGPU from appearing so the system boots consistently on the 4080? Thanks.
