Question Cinebench score below 1/10th of normal for Ryzen 5600
Question Cinebench score below 1/10th of normal for Ryzen 5600
I just installed a R5 5600 into an older ASUS B350 motherboard that previously had a 1600. I also got some new RAM as my old corsair 3000 was failing and causing random reboots.
The freshly updated BIOS supports the 5000 series, and everything seems to be working well. I am getting stable performance with no crashes and the RAM is running at advertised speeds using DOCP. The RAM is 16gb Team Group DDR4 3600.
I am getting like a 400-500 multi-core score in Cinebench R23.
It seems I should be getting something like 10,000-11,000 or there about. To be clear I am not chasing any scores here, I was just running this for stability and temperature checking. This is a single 10-minute test.
I am using the stock Wraith cooler and its hovering around 81-82 degrees during the test. Ryzen Master shows the CPU running well about 4ghz. I am not concerned about the temp and not looking for any overclocking, just a functional mid-range PC. This just seems to indicate some weird problem.
Why is my score so darn low? The PC seems responsive and not indicative of anything major going wrong, but this test has me a bit worried.
Well, I decided to keep the post open just so you can enjoy a good laugh at my expense.
I was trying to compare Cinebench R23 results with Cinebench 2024, but didn’t realize the benchmarks were completely different.
🤣
My score came in around 10,500 for R23, which feels pretty good. I’m not sure why the other number is lower than expected, but I don’t mind much since the system is performing well and staying stable. This isn’t about chasing numbers for a budget build—I’m definitely not focused on that. Still, it’s a big jump from 1600 to 5600, and I’m really happy about it!
There are multiple versions of CB 23, making comparisons less straightforward.
To achieve higher scores, you need to adjust the BIOS settings, as default values tend to favor stability. Non X Ryzen models generally perform slightly slower than their X counterparts right out of the box, since they are essentially lower-tier X models but could be improved with some tuning or minor overclocking.
I just experienced something quite similar, except for the test comparing.
My score was significantly lower on Cbr23 and 3dmark Time Spy.
I purchased a mini display screen but it didn’t function properly.
From the start, the software download link refused to go to a valid site for the drivers.
I attempted to use other display drivers that were very similar, but still no luck—they were in a Rar file format.
I needed a tool to unzip Rar files, so I found one.
After that, all my files looked like the original Rar file in File Explorer, which didn’t look right.
During reboots, I kept seeing the display box popup again and again.
I searched for an uninstaller but couldn’t find it.
Trying to delete the files didn’t work, and even using regedit to remove them failed.
I went back to restoring only to forget I had updated the chipset drivers earlier that morning.
After rebooting, I thought everything was fine.
When testing Cbr23 and Time Spy again, my scores dropped dramatically.
Why? I dug deeper and found no Amd chipset drivers installed.
After installing the correct drivers, everything worked perfectly.
If you haven’t updated your chipset drivers after updating your bio, you might want to do so.
Have a great weekend!
It's really helpful to hear you came back with the answer. I didn't think anyone could do that, but it's a simple error to make. We usually just talk about cinebench when people are generally talking about r23 lately.
