Hi,
I encountered an unusual issue with a few games recently. I noticed it while playing the Hitman trilogy (all three) last week, and this week in Yakuza Kiwami 2, though the situation is a bit different.

In Hitman, I experienced freezing every 30 seconds to a minute, lasting about a second or two. The audio remained normal, but the screen would freeze while the game ran at over 60fps.

In Yakuza, I’m seeing this more frequently, but it happens in fractions of a second and even occurs in menus. For example, when switching tabs, the game might freeze for a second before jumping to another tab, or when moving the camera, it could freeze and perform an unexpected 180-degree turn. This becomes particularly bothersome during fights. The audio is unaffected.

I’ve also tried other titles like NFS Heat, Forza Horizon 4, and Cyberpunk, which I believe are more demanding than Hitman or Yakuza, and I haven’t encountered this problem there.

Any suggestions on what might be causing this?

Attempt a clean boot to determine if it resolves the issue—follow the guidance carefully. Ensure no Microsoft services are disabled or Windows fails to load. If the clean boot helps, it suggests a startup program is causing the problem. Over several restarts, stop the programs and identify which one is responsible.

Thank you for the guidance. It's strange that this problem emerged after the initial installation, especially since it was functioning properly at first. The issues started the following day.

It seems like you're experiencing a problem with your GPU. Could you provide another GPU to check? Also, would you like me to adjust your BIOS settings to "optimized defaults"?

It would be quite tough for me to find another GPU. I could talk to overclockers who built the PC themselves and ask if they can assist.
What leads you to think it's the GPU? Wouldn't that influence all games?
Also, with the BIOS set to 'optimised defaults', would that impact CPU overclocking?

It's due to the freezes, though it's not certain. Testing it might be best. As you mentioned, it doesn't occur in tougher games, but I'd still look into it—it can help avoid a lot of troubleshooting (it'll give us some info no matter the outcome). Yes, it would impact your OC, essentially resetting your BIOS to default settings.

I'm returning the RTX for inspection. Let's check what results we get; if it's indeed the GPU, I can secure a replacement. I also recorded a short video in Yakuza to demonstrate the issue:
https://streamable.com/a057jb
Noticing noticeable lag around 0:13, 0:20 and 0:27.

Hi,
I also recently got a new RTX and it seems the issue persists (tested in Yakuza Kiwami 2). Would switching the game from HDD to SSD help? I'm running out of ideas about what might be causing this.

Yes, that would be the next step. Now that we have eliminated the GPU, your HDD/SSD (whatever the installation is on) seems questionable.

Thanks for your assistance. The issue persists even after reinstalling on an SSD, though I managed to resolve it previously. It's unclear how this impacts the game (possibly auto-save), but turning off Wi-Fi eliminated the stuttering. I can't test this on Hitman since I don't have the game anymore, but I'll monitor Yakuza for similar occurrences.
