Canon ImageClass MF3010 (Brand New) is flashing "Paper Jam" even though the paper is loaded. Setting up and installing drivers was easy. When I tried a simple print job, it seemed to work but nothing came out. After clearing the jam, the test page also showed the same issue—print started, printed one line, then jammed again. Now the printer only lights up in a left-to-right sequence: power → pages → Paper Jam. I’m wondering if this is fixable without taking it apart. Should I just return it? If returned, what should I replace it with? I need a basic multi-function printer (print/scan/copier) under $250. Monochrome works fine, color is acceptable. A laser printer would have been better, but an inkjet is acceptable.

Brand new? Return it.
I have the same printer, been working well for me. Id suggest trying out a different unit of the same model.
That, or swap it out for a similar model from Brother, they usually have similar units for not much more.

While watching some videos for the MF3010, I discovered this:
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iCenjRxqnU
At 2:21 it showed that the long orange plastic piece didn’t come out of my printer.
I had to take the printer apart and inspect.
Opening it, removing the ink cartridge, and I noticed the orange piece was still present.
So I reinstalled the printer completely.
Connected power, loaded paper, installed the driver, connected USB, and ran the toolbox software.
It doesn’t need returning—it’s working now.
