Question: Burning smell from the PSU?

I got my pc around the first week of September last year.
My Problem:
For a while, I was downloading something on my ps via steam. After about half an hour of downloading, I smelled a strange burning smell, like something burning or dust. I immediately turned off my pc. Then I stress tested it for about an hour with 3dMark to check the smell, because I didn’t know where it was coming from. I wasn’t able to get my pc to smell and so I dismissed it. But I hadn’t used it very often until yesterday evening.
Yesterday, while playing on my BOC, I played for about 3 to 4 hours (not graphically intensive). My GPU was around 54°C and under 18°C load, and my CPU was at about 41°C. Then I noticed the smell again. I checked the dust cover under the psu and the temperature was extremely high. I cleaned it off but didn’t turn on my pc since then. I’m not sure if the psu is faulty or if there’s just some dust or a bug (like an insect) causing the smell.
I am from Austria, and I know the brand on the psu is probably unknown. For extra context, MIFCOM is also the company that built my pc and shipped it to me, while searching for parts, I found an inexpensive (90€) 850W psu and chose that.
Can someone please help? What should I do next and how can I test if the psu is faulty without taking it out?
Hello there, new member!

Prior to this, I had no experience with this device.
I recommend inspecting your entire system and ensuring all connections are solid before turning it on. Also, consider borrowing a well-built unit from someone you know and testing it beforehand.
I don't have the chance to obtain extra PC parts, unfortunately. As I mentioned before, the PSU is made by the company that assembled my PC. I've looked into whether those PSUs from that manufacturer are decent and should work well.
the initial step you ought to take after turning it off is to genuinely lift the cover and inspect the power supply unit to ensure the odor originates from it before it disappears.
Is your PC covered by warranty? Reach out to the manufacturer and request repairs.
The power supply unit might be faulty, though it could simply be a generic, low-cost model.
