the app remains closed despite repeated attempts. no error messages appear. it was downloaded from steam, and the gpu driver is up to date. assistance needed. thank you.

Have you explored downloading it straight from the origin?
Blender is a free and open-source program. It's always available.

I think there might be a problem with dependencies. Is Windows completely updated? Have you executed DISM and SFC to verify the system's health?
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...em...6e85d4094e
Did earlier versions of Blender function correctly?
Have you checked your system for malware recently?

- my windows 10 is current.
- no issues detected during DISM, SFC, or chkdsk checks.
- the older version (4.3) functions correctly.
- a recent scan found nothing.

when i clicked right-click on the installation, there was no "run as administrator" choice available. however, user account control appeared to prompt me.

It seems to occur only with the laptop. The PC handles the latest version 4.4.3 without issues.

Have you attempted to remove version 4.3 and then reinstall version 4.4.3?
