Question bios happens after a power cut.
Hey, I have a Gigabyte P15 laptop that has worked fine except for this one issue. The battery isn't really good because it drains super fast, so I just charge it while it's on my table and don't worry about running out of power. One day at home, the power went out and when electricity came back on, my computer wouldn't start up showing no boot device found. I had to go into the BIOS settings and reset them so the system could find a drive again. Even after changing the internal battery, this problem still happens. Can anyone give me some ideas why this is going on?
That machine has been around for a while and I'm pretty sure the little battery inside it is either dead or really weak. That's where you should begin looking. If that CMOS battery is truly dead or just not strong enough, then the computer will reset whenever power goes out, unless something way bigger like the motherboard is broken. Since that big issue doesn't seem to be happening here, it's most probably just a bad battery. I hope the one in your laptop can actually be swapped out, because some of these are really hard to fix if you try at all.
