Question: Are static damaging headphones safe to use?
I've experienced issues with my beyerdynamic dt1990s headphones when static electricity passes through them, especially in environments with fabric chairs and carpet. I notice pops and static, but sometimes the right ear sound diminishes or stops completely, returning to normal only after a short delay. The left speaker seems affected more noticeably. While online advice suggests static shouldn't harm phones, this setup feels different. I'm trying to understand how to restore normal operation and prevent static interference.
It might not be your headphones, but your amplifier, particularly when using balanced output. I've damaged headphone amps due to static discharge before. Charge off that static electricity before connecting them. Your computer's case should function if it is correctly grounded.
