the logic doesn't make much sense... but I can't pay for another cable at the moment. I have three monitors connected to my main computer, which sometimes works in triple monitor mode. My setup includes one HDMI and one DVI port, while the rest use DisplayPort. Unfortunately, none of my monitors support DisplayPort. The question is: are there any programs that let you share devices over a network? Is there something similar for connecting monitors remotely?

To make a software use the monitor over the network, you'd still need the monitor connected to a network. A device like a Chromecast would likely be used, though they're usually pricier than cables.
