Are you considering using an OEM Windows 10 version on your existing hard drive, and if you later swap it for an SSD? Will the license key still work? This change is mainly about storage, not licensing.

You can simply copy the drive and everything should work. It seems OEM keys are tied to specific motherboards, but changing the board should resolve the issue.

Windows 10 may secure itself on your motherboard, so you won’t have to re-activate it with a key.

This applies when your setup uses UEFI. With a classic BIOS, you must type the key manually each time. My AMD device prompts me each time I reinstall Windows 8 or 10.
