Question about whether deleted Facebook chats truly disappear.
Question about whether deleted Facebook chats truly disappear.
Hello,
I need to clarify something urgently... if both of us delete a Facebook conversation, what are the chances it remains accessible somewhere?
To give you some background: I have a condition (OCD) and recently shared something about someone I love in a Facebook message to another person. It was very disturbing, and I’m experiencing intense guilt.
My mind is telling me the conversation might still exist and be recovered... I really need to know...
Do iPhones automatically save messenger chats to iCloud? Or do they store them somewhere else on the phone?
Or does Messenger send notifications to a person’s email address so it could be found that way?
I’m very concerned—if the comment is discovered and resurfaced, it would be extremely painful.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
If you delete a Facebook conversation and the other person does the same, how likely is it that it remains available somewhere?
FB/Meta might still keep a record of it in their system, even if the app on either device deletes the message.
Or could Messenger send notifications to someone's email address so they can be found this way?
I’m not sure that will ever happen. I’ve been using Messenger for about five years, not just one email of what was sent to me.
It's just one concern... I'm thinking about whether the other person could access what we talked about, like backing it up to iCloud. Would the conversation have been saved there, and if so, would it be removed after some time?
