Question about voice recognition for people with disabilities?
My wife looks after a quadriplegic woman, and her old computer failed. Everyone contributed to get her a new laptop. On the previous device, she used dragon voice recognition for control. The new laptop lacks that feature. We obtained the latest version. According to what I’ve been told, it functions best with Microsoft applications. She requires compatibility with Google and other services. What suggestions do people have for a full voice assistant so she can regain control of her computer? Since she has limited hand movement, the program must support full computer interaction.
In the workplace, we have an office primarily composed of individuals with disabilities. There are several restrictions to consider. They rely on JAWS, provided by Freedom Scientific. I haven’t used it before, but it seems to suit their requirements. However, it’s important to confirm that your current Dragon software doesn’t fulfill their requirements.
Are you implying she previously had a Microsoft gadget and software, now requiring Google or Android?
I’m not suggesting altering operating systems since I recently moved from version 10 to 11 on a 2018 $2000 laptop, which significantly slowed it down until I went back to the previous version. That’s one possibility, though.
The other reply was also helpful—it’s rare for major companies to limit support to specific computer types.
She had a Windows 7 tower that finally stopped working. She received a laptop running Windows 11. She used to rely on a version of Dragon Voice. It let her operate the computer entirely through speech. Now with the new device, she has the latest version of Dragon. This update is compatible only with Microsoft products. It won’t function if you use non-Microsoft software like Google Chrome or other programs.
Ahhhh....
Windows S is the issue here.
You can switch to a regular Windows 11 Home version for free.
After that, the standard Dragon software will function normally again.
