I own a Canon Pixma E560 printer with its CD. I'm curious if it will function on Linux, especially Ubuntu—will the system automatically locate the necessary drivers?

Generally, for uncommon printers, it might attempt to download the nearest available driver and proceed from there.

CANON has shifted away from supporting 64-bit Windows but continues to provide reliable drivers for Unix and Linux initially. Many of their printers perform exceptionally well. I own an older CANON model and a Brother B/W laser printer linked to an Ubuntu 19.04 system since no Windows drivers exist now. For legacy devices, Linux remains a solid choice. With official CANON drivers available, you should be all set. Enjoy printing!

You received the package in a compressed format. To install the driver, you’ll need to extract the contents of the .tar.gz file and follow the installation instructions provided with it.
