Question About the Sonic Focus GX-1000 ATX 3.0 or MSI MPG A1000G with PCIe5
Hello, I am planning to purchase a PSU for my new build with an RTX graphics card. I am thinking about the RTX 4090 and wondering if I should wait for the 5080 or 5090 models when they release. Which PSU would you suggest?
I have considered MSI MPG A1000G PCIE5 for 120€ or Seasonic Focus GX-1000 ATX 3.0 for 160€. MSI offers a 3-year warranty and standard cables, while Seasonic provides a 10-year warranty with gold-plated braided cables. I’m unsure if ATX 3.1 is necessary since I haven’t found any in my area yet.
It’s not critical yet, but I already have these components for my next build: CPU i7-14700KF, motherboard MSI PRO Z790-a with Wi-Fi, RAM Corsair Vengance 32GB DDR5-7200mhz, SSD Samsung 980 Pro 1TB NVMe M.2, and an Arctic Liquid Freezer III cooler. Thank you.
For RTX 4090, a bare minimum of 1200W (1.2kW) PSU is recommended, though a 1600W (1.6kW) model is preferred.

The listed options (Vertex and PRIME) all include a 12-year warranty, with the longest being available. All are ATX 3.0 compatible as well.
I’d choose the PRIME TX-1600 ATX 3.0, as it’s Seasonic’s flagship.
(Out of the three PCs and PSUs I own, two are already Seasonic PRIME TX units. The third PSU is a Seasonic Focus PX. Full specifications with pictures are in my profile.)
It’s hard to say how much power the RTX 50-series consumes; you might need a 2kW PSU for those.
Do you even know when ATX 3.1 will be released?
