I own a Panasonic KX-MB781 laser printer that is lightly used and looks in good condition. But recently it began having issues. It starts to dribble on the internal glass and the drum roller. Cleaning those areas thoroughly—including wiping the drum with a soft cloth—helps it print nicely, producing about 15 pages without problems. However, the text becomes fuzzy and faded, making it hard to read. Additionally, the pages often come out with what seems like no fusing, meaning the print smears when touched.

That’s concerning, isn’t it? At first, it seems the fuser is working properly. I replaced the drum, but nothing changed. I’m considering purchasing a new fuser, which is expensive, but I don’t see any error messages.

Do you have any suggestions? I’m not sure if this is the main issue, especially since I’m hesitant to replace it just because it’s not brand new.

Also, I’m struggling to justify spending hundreds of dollars on a fuser and parts that might not be the real problem. Thanks.

If the issue continues even after cleaning the internal glass, drum roller, and replacing the drum, the problem may lie with the fuser. But because there’s no error message pointing to a fuser issue and swapping it can be costly, it could be wise to reach out to Panasonic support for more help before buying anything else.

I followed the maintenance manual step by step (without much luck), but it only confirmed they don’t support that model and didn’t provide any details.

We think it's time to invest in a new printer... It should be more affordable than hiring a technician or dealing with the issue further, you can actually purchase printers that include ink in them, so try searching for those.
