Checked CPU-Z and found core voltage at 2.208 V for my i5 6500. Is that typical? I haven’t adjusted or overclocked the CPU before.

Almost certain it's incorrect... if it were, your CPU would be damaged.

I tried reinstalling cpu-z to see if it resolved the issue, but the reading remains at 2.2 V. Could be a sensor problem rather than the software itself.

You can verify using another tool, HWInfo64.

HWinfo64 confirms the peak voltage reached is 1.161 V, but it's strange that cpu-z reports 2.2, anyway. Appreciate the help with my question.
