Hello, i have a very old IdeaPad laptop (around 10 years) and the fan has been acting up recently so i took it to the repair shop for replacement but they said that they couldnt find the fan for this specief version and the guy told me that other fans wont work because of very different connectors and attributes, but ive read in some posts that you can actually use a compatible version even from another provider if just the numbers are right, and i was wondering if this is true, and what properties exactly should i look to match with my old one and if i can do it at home without any special equipment? (sorry for the really basic questions and confusion i really dont have any experiences with laptop hardware or even hardwares in general for the matter, thanks in regards)
p.s: the exact model of my laptop is lenovo ideapad 115-isk but the repair guy said that there are replacement fans available for the "v" version but not for this one, which i didnt really understand what he meant by that

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
The solution depends on whether your fan matches the connector and if the wires are correctly connected in the right terminals. If everything fits properly and there’s no interference, then yes, you can use fans from another laptop. However, when purchasing online, it’s wise to reach out to the seller to confirm compatibility.

You might want to get in touch with the seller for this fan:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002717271503.html
and check if it suits your needs. Alternatively, you can look up the part number or sticker on your current cooler and search for a similar item on sites like eBay.

The repair expert mentioned that replacement fans are available for the "v" version but not for this model, which I wasn’t entirely clear about. Different SKUs often have unique motherboard designs, so the fan might not fit well. Screw holes and mounting points can vary, which is a common reason for issues.

Pardon Our Interruption...
lenovo ideapad 115-isk
Are you certain about the model and SKU for your laptop? Please share the sticker information from the bottom of your device. You’re sure it’s not a
Lenovo IdeaPad 110-15ISK?
Searching for replacement parts with incorrect part numbers, models, or SKUs can lead to purchasing the wrong item, which may be costly for some.

I meant to refer to the Lenovo IdeaPad 110-15isk, unfortunately AliExpress and Amazon aren't available in my country, but thank you for your assistance. I'll search for similar models. Regarding the power cable, I'm not sure if it requires soldering or just a plug—just checking to avoid damaging the port.
