Question About Static Shock Causing GPU Failure When Using a Chair
Hi all, welcome! I’m new here and hoping to get more experienced help than I’ve had before.
With the drier winter weather, I sometimes experience a static shock when standing up from my desk chair (a cloth seat with metal legs). This can cause my GPU to shut down completely, even though my PC continues to run. The monitor goes black, signals lost, and enters sleep mode. I have to restart the PC manually using the power button. After rebooting, I try going to system devices to re-enable the graphics card, but it fails, gets disabled, and then works again. I’m using an AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT.
Any suggestions on how to fix this would be really helpful.
To enhance your PC's grounding, start by checking your power supply and cables for proper connections. Ensure all components are securely fastened and consider using a quality surge protector. If unsure, consult a professional or refer to reliable guides for setup.
