Question about startup/reboot process
Question about startup/reboot process
Currently we have two HDDs. At first boot, the first SATA port should use the boot HDD and the second port the storage HDD. If I swap them—boot HDD on the second port and storage on the first—I expect the BIOS will keep trying to boot from the storage HDD, which won’t work. The motherboard is an Asus A88xm-A.
You may need to adjust the BIOS settings and set your primary HDD as the boot priority. Placing the storage drive on the second SATA port requires this change, while the first port should not be used for the main drive—it will recognize it regardless of port type.
Adjust boot sequence for accuracy, excluding all peripheral devices. BIOS ignores SATA port selection; it’s less rigid than with IDE.
