Yes, you could potentially use SLI or CrossFireX if both GPUs are compatible with the setup and your motherboard supports it.

Confirmed, the 3.0 x16 port will operate as 2.0 for consistent performance

Minimum requirement is PCI-E 2.0 x8; otherwise it won't function properly

I don't have information about your specific setup. Could you clarify which device or system you're referring to?

The 3.0 lane will operate at 2.0, which isn't a problem because 2.0 multiplied by 16 isn't reaching capacity from any single card.

I'm not able to use SLI because I have a laptop. I was just curious about it.

The lowest requirement is x8 no matter the PCIe version, provided both cards fit in an x8 slot and your board supports SLI.

You're correct, even the earliest version at line 8x8 can function, though no one will upgrade a PCI-E 1.0 board with a modern GPU.
