I own a 3-monitor configuration for my personal PC setup. Recently, I secured a position with a job that includes a work computer and a single monitor. I’m interested in experimenting with sharing two of the three monitors between the work computer and my personal setup so I can alternate between having three monitors for personal use and three for work. The work computer is confirmed capable of handling three monitors, so the system is ready. I’m looking for the appropriate KVM to enable monitor sharing while also keeping the mouse and keyboard for desk efficiency. I’m considering a 2-monitor, 2-computer KVM setup, but I want to verify its feasibility before buying. The fact that both devices use DisplayPort cables might increase the cost, which adds another layer of consideration. I’d like to ensure my plan is practical before making a purchase.

Consider drawing a diagram that illustrates the computers, monitors, and all related peripherals such as the KVM. Remember to include the essential network connections. On each device, note the ports, their types, and whether they are male or female. Plan out the required cables for connecting everything properly. Search online for "KVM diagrams" and select image results to gather ideas. For instance, a Reddit post about triple monitors may provide useful insights, though it should be checked for completeness. Your drawing doesn’t have to be artistic—just clear enough to convey all necessary details. Place the KVM in the center of the diagram as suggested, and refer to other examples if needed. The goal is to organize everything thoroughly before proceeding. You may need to buy cables, so label them and indicate their usage relative to the diagram. Keep track of lengths required.

I have everything organized, but the main concern was whether sharing my setup would be feasible. That information is really helpful for others who might try it too. Thank you!
