Hi Guys,
I'm facing a problem with my PSU it has two 8-pin connectors, but my motherboard only has two 8-pin CPU connectors which use these. The board also has an 8-pin USB power input that I don't have room for on my PSU. Do you think I can use a 6+2 connector on that 8-pin USB power input under the ATX power input without damaging my motherboard? I've attached the manual for reference.

I noticed that but it doesn't clarify if the 6+2 can be used as an 8-pin connector. I'm planning to get a 5080 or 5090. My processor is a Ryzen 7 98003xd.
Yes, it's similar to having an 8 pin PCIe connection on a GPU with a 6+2 pin connector. However, the case you choose matters. SFX and SFX-L use very short cables that don't reach the motherboard connectors in ATX cases.
Extensions create problems, particularly on high-end systems. The increased cable length and additional connectors reduce voltage at the end. It's advisable to use replacement cables that are appropriately long. Alternatively, purchasing an ATX PSU would be a better option—it fits the ROG Hyperion easily and is more affordable. SFX-L offers an unusual workaround.
It was really about the look I wanted with the RGB fan. It’s made of titanium and the Thor PSU from Asus isn’t great either. Extensions are okay if they come from a trustworthy source and have the right wire size. You shouldn’t notice any power drop, especially if they’re not too long. I mean, if you’re looking at less than 1% power loss because of extra resistance, that’s ideal. I already have cable mod connections in my current PC and they work perfectly and look great! I’ll let you know once I install the graphics card and it’s powered on... if you’re okay with a 5080 or 90 for around 4K. Stupid scalpers.
