Hi,
I swapped the screen on my HP Chromebook 11” to a BrightFocal model because the original OEM one stopped working. The colors look off—some are distorted, but the blacks seem much darker. When I compared it to the OEM screen, they’re very different. But does changing the screen affect battery life? With all these color and brightness changes, could the battery drain faster than with an OEM display? I’m worried the new screen might consume more power. I thought about reading a Reddit thread where someone replaced their laptop’s display and noticed increased brightness and altered colors. Thanks for your help.

I believe screens from various manufacturers could consume different amounts of power, making it difficult to predict if battery life would be affected without the necessary technical information.

It is never advised to swap laptop screens with any different model. You should be lucky to find one that functions properly. Laptop screens are not interchangeable and are built to fit specific motherboards, with screen cables linked accordingly. These devices are highly exclusive.
