Question about RAM speed and clock speeds for Intel B/H motherboards.
Since 3200MHz CL16 is affordable now, it's actually cheaper than the 2666MHz 16GB dual kit. Can I downclock it to 2666MHz CL14? Will it stay at 2666MHz or remain at 3200MHz CL16? Brian from Tech says it's possible with an ASRock B460 motherboard, and ASRock offers a "secondary timing optimization" BIOS. I'm not sure if this applies to other brands or the H410 ASRock model.
You can reduce the clock speed, as the components are checked at lower frequencies—definitely acceptable.
