Hello there!
I recently purchased a new desktop PC and am attempting to boost the RAM speed using the XMP 1 Profile. Unfortunately, I’m facing random game crashes—sometimes it runs smoothly, but after a few minutes of play it stops.
I’ve tried overclocking RAM on my own and am doing my best, but I thought it would be better to consult the experts here.

Here are the details:
- CPU: Intel i9 11900K (base 3.5GHz, max 5.3GHz)
- Memory: DDR-4 3200 MHz
- Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z590-E Gaming WIFI (supports up to 5333MHz)
- GPU: Palit RTX 3070 Ti Gamerock OC (8GB)
- Power supply: Antec 750W 80 plus Gold Modular
- Cooling: Liquid cooling ADATA XPG Levante 360 AIO + 8 fans (one above RAM)
- Disk: WD Blue SN580 1TB NVMe Gen4 (4150MB)
- RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 16GB (2x8) at DDR4 4800MHz

*RAM specs:*
On the G.Skill website, RAM is compatible with ASUS Z590 boards. The clock speeds are 19-28-28-48 and the voltage under XMP is 1.50V. It’s a dual channel kit.

Test results from XMP/EXPO:
- Speed: 4800 MT/s
- Voltage: 1.50V
- Latency: 19-28-28-48

The RAM slots are #2 and #4. Under XMP, the DRAM runs at 4800 MHz.

I ran memtest86 with XMP enabled (built-in on motherboard) and it failed, showing more than one error about only a single bit being incorrect.

BIOS and all updates are current. According to Armoury Crate:
- VCCIO Mem OC Voltage ≈ 1.53V
- PCH VCCIN ≈ 1.8V - 1.776V
- DRAM Voltage ≈ 1.558V
- CPU Voltage ≈ 1.344V
- CPU VCCIO Voltage ≈ 1.072V
- CPU Core Voltage can range from 0.663V to 1.111V

I’m new to RAM overclocking and have tried everything within my knowledge. I also increased the voltage to 1.55V, but memtest still fails with the same error.

What might I be missing? I really want to utilize the full potential of my RAM, but I’m unsure if it’s possible. I feel a bit stuck because I lack proper understanding of the process.

I’m determined to reach the highest possible frequency, as it gave me a noticeable 30-40 FPS improvement in every game at full settings.

If you have any additional information or advice, please share. Thank you in advance for your help!

What BIOS version is currently active?
All BIOS updates are up to date. Have you reset the CMOS after updating to the latest BIOS and confirmed it is now current?
RAM modules are installed in slots #2 and #4
Are you referring to slots A2 and B2, is that correct?
Antec 750W 80 plus Gold Modular
Would you like to share a link to the device or at least mention its model? If the power supply has been operating for some time, please share its age.

Sorry for the confusion, I'm still getting familiar with this.
Q: What BIOS version am I using right now?
A: BIOS Version is 1903
Q: All updates and BIOS are up to date?
A: I don't think I'm running anything under the name "CMOS" – honestly I’m not sure what that means, but I do have a button on the back of my PC for it.
According to the ASUS website for my motherboard, this is the latest update – version 1903.
Q: Where are the RAM sticks installed?
A: They’re in slots #2 and #4.
A: That makes sense. How can I be absolutely sure? Is this mentioned in CPU-Z? I found the info there.
Q: Could you share a link to the unit or at least tell me its model? If the power supply has been running for a while, let me know its age.
A: Of course! Here’s the link:
https://www.antec.com/product/power/hcg-gold750
The power unit is brand new, and most of my PC’s parts are also brand new.
Thanks a lot!
